Nissan LEAF Ordering

Nissan of Auburn will ship anywhere in the United States and will provide a $450 shipping credit to out- of-state buyers to help cover transport fees to their doorstep.  After shipping credit, transport costs will be approximately $600 anywhere in the United States.

Nissan of Auburn also announced that renovations are currently underway to allow for LEAF charging stations at their location.  They will be the first to have charging stations at their dealership.

A program called the EV Project will install 4,700 charging stations in Washington, Oregon, California Arizona and Tennessee by December 2010, with approximately 2,400 of those being in Washington and Oregon. When charging your LEAF at these locations, it will take approximately ½ hour to charge your LEAF battery to 80%.

The ultimate goal of The EV Project is to take the lessons learned from the deployment of these first 4,700 EVs, and the charging infrastructure supporting them, to enable the streamlined deployment of the full production of Nissan LEAFS and also further future EVs.  Their goal is to get to 5,000,000 stations.

After the first wave of charging stations hits the initial states, they will then be available in Texas and Hawaii in January, followed by North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, South Carolina and Alabama by April 2011.  The rest of the country will be equipped by the end of 2011.

To make the Nissan LEAF even more affordable, the federal government will be giving tax credits to Nissan LEAF owners up to $7,500.

Blue&Me is based on the Windows Mobile for Automotive platform and offers Bluetooth connectivity, USB, and a voice controlled, hands free telephone kit. 2011 Nissan Juke Seattle

Nissan’s new-for-2011 Juke is set to make its Seattle debut this summer and the small crossover’s polarizing moon-buggy styling is sure to set Seattle consumer tongues wagging, just as it did during its global premiere at the Geneva Motor Show. The news continues to get worse for this troubled car maker. The question to be seen is if these mounting problems will hurt the brand long term.

According to a survey of car dealers, many dealers feel that Toyota will bounce back from their recall woes. Many said that they would not count Toyota out and that the brand loyalty among Toyota owners was very strong.

An excerpt from the Yahoo News story also added this interesting twist:

Despite pressure from some lawmakers, President Akio Toyoda said he won’t be attending the U.S. congressional hearing on the automaker’s quality lapses, entrusting the job to U.S.-based executives, though would consider an appearance if the committee requests it. He said he wanted to focus on improving quality worldwide.

“I trust that our officials in the U.S. will amply answer the questions,” Toyoda said Wednesday in his third news conference in two weeks. “We are sending the best people to the hearing, and I hope to back up the efforts from headquarters.”

He said Yoshi Inaba, who heads Toyota Motor Corp.’s North American unit, was more familiar with the U.S. situation and was the best executive to deal with the hearing. Toyoda said he was still making plans to go to the U.S. and dates have yet to be set.
